In the last years, nanostructured metals prepared by severe plastic deformation (SPD) techniques have emerged as a promising class of advanced biomaterials for load-bearing applications such orthopedic implants. This is mainly because simultaneous improvements in mechanical and biocompatibility properties during creation nanostructures. article provides brief overview effects SPD producing nano/ultrafine-grained structures implant applications. The role microstructure refinement achieved its effect on biocompatibility, together with processing challenges are reviewed.
